Maranta respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application.

2. Data we collect

• Account: email address, name (via Google or Apple Sign-In)
• Photos: images of your plants uploaded for AI analysis
• Plant data: name, location, health status, care reminders
• Location: city/region (optional, for climate-based advice)
• Usage: number of scans and messages (for subscription management)

3. How we use your data

• Identify and analyze your plants using AI (Anthropic Claude)
• Send you care notifications and reminders
• Manage your account and subscription
• Improve service quality

4. Third parties

• Firebase (Google): authentication, database, photo storage
• Anthropic: AI analysis (photos are processed and not retained)
• RevenueCat: in-app subscription management
• PlantNet: botanical species identification; the app also shows reference photos hosted on their servers, and loading them shares your IP address with PlantNet
• OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): receives your GPS coordinates, when you grant location access, to resolve them into a city and country
• Firebase Crashlytics (Google): crash diagnostics (device model, OS version, error trace)
• Google Fonts: the app's typefaces are downloaded at launch, which discloses your IP address to Google
• Amazon: product suggestions are affiliate links; opening one takes you to Amazon, under Amazon's own privacy terms

5. Data retention

Your data is retained as long as you have an active account. You can request full deletion by contacting us via email.

6. Security

We use Firebase with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Credentials are managed by Google and Apple.

7. Children

Maranta is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are an EU resident, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your data. Contact us at support@marantacare.com.
